C T Online Desk: Family members of victims of enforced disappearances and killings, represented by the human rights organisation Mayer Daak, met Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman on Sunday evening at the National Parliament Complex.
The meeting took place outside the parliamentary chamber following the day’s budget session of the 13th National Parliament.
Earlier in the day, members of Mayer Daak attended the parliamentary proceedings at the invitation of the prime minister and observed discussions on the proposed national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
A total of 26 representatives of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings watched the budget session from the Bir Sreshtho Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf Gallery of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was present in the House during the budget session, which was chaired by Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal.
The proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year was presented under the theme, “Journey Towards a Democratic, Humane and Inclusive Economy.”
The visit by the members of Mayer Daak and their subsequent meeting with the prime minister highlighted ongoing efforts to engage with families affected by past incidents of enforced disappearance and killings, while providing them an opportunity to witness the country’s parliamentary and budgetary processes firsthand.
