He said this while instructing the engineer in charge while inspecting the bridge of canal No. 6 on Port Road on Saturday.
At that time, the mayor instructed the CCC engineering department to repair the roads and alleys of the city where there are ditches within the next ten days through punch work.
The mayor said that work is underway to remove soil and garbage from all the canals including Maitaila canal and Mahesh canal, which are connected to Karnafuli river. If the canals are cleared within this month, there will be waterlogging problem in this area. He warned that after cleaning the canals and drains, if anyone dumped garbage in the canals and drains, they would be punished.
