C T Online Desk: Four vessels carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gas oil have arrived at Chattogram Port to strengthen the country’s energy security.
The information was disclosed in a report published by the Marine Department of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) on Monday (6 April).
According to port sources, the vessels anchored at the port after transporting fuel from various countries, including those in the Gulf region. Unloading operations from the ships are currently underway.
The arriving vessels include Gas Challenger, which brought LPG from India and reached the port on 31 March. It is currently stationed at the Bhatiary area.
Another vessel, Shan Gang Fa Xian, carrying gas oil from Malaysia, docked on 3 April. It is now berthed at the DOJ/6 jetty, with unloading expected to be completed by 7 April.
The LNG carrier Cool Voyager, which arrived from Nigeria on 5 April, is currently positioned at the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). Its operations are expected to conclude by 8 April.
Meanwhile, Gas Journey, transporting LPG from China, also arrived on 5 April. It is presently located in the CERLIE area, with unloading expected to be completed by 8 April.
Syed Refayet Hamim, Secretary of the Chattogram Port Authority, said priority is being given to the swift unloading of these fuel consignments to maintain a stable supply of energy and ensure uninterrupted electricity generation in the country.
He expressed optimism that unloading from all vessels would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
