Prices of lemon, coriander, bringal , cucumber skyrocket in port city

C T Online Desk: Lemon, coriander,  bringal  and cucumber are in high demand in Ramadan. But even though the prices of these products have come down in the Reazuddin market, the wholesale market of the city, they are still being sold at high prices in the retail market. Similarly, the prices of meat, chicken and fish have also gone up on the pretext of Ramadan. The prices of these products are different in the two markets. In Karnafuli  Bazar , lemons of medium size are being sold at Tk 20 each. The same lemon is being sold in Chawkbazar at 10-15 taka. Meanwhile, a pair of medium-sized lemons is being sold at a wholesale price of Tk 15 in Reazuddin Bazaar.

A lemon trader by the name of Jobayer  said that he had to buy lemons at a higher price. So we have to sell at a higher price. Besides, the lemon season has not started yet. When it starts raining, the price of lemon will go down. Nur Islam, storekeeper of Reazuddin Bazar, said that now the prices of bringal, pudina,  cucumber, coriander and carrot have come down. Here eggplants and carrots are being sold at 25-30 taka per kg. Coriander leaves at 50 taka per kg, green chillies at 25 taka. Similarly, prices of other vegetables also declined.
