Apart from being inspired by ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, MP of the area, the farmers are seeing the possibility of profit from sunflower over other crops due to increase in price of edible oil in the current market. The soil of Raozan has already proved its usefulness in cultivating this flowerAgriculturists and farmers. Due to the success of the crop, the focus has shifted to other crops. Note that edible oil produced from sunflower seeds means the best. The price is too high. Talking to the people of the agriculture department, it is known that the cultivation of sunflower in Raozan started two years ago. The Department of Agriculture had experimental field exhibitionsSunflower. Seeing the yield of the exhibition, it is starting to lean towards the sun more than other crops. They now feel more profitable in sunflowers. The scope of its cultivation is increasing every year. It is known that in the first year this flower was cultivated in only 20 acres of land in this upazila. Last year 60 acres were cultivated. This year it has increased to 180 acres of land. According to the Agriculture Department, out of 14 unions of the upazila, sunflower has been cultivated in seven unions and municipal areas under their exhibition project. Besides, many are also cultivating on private initiative. Farmers say they have benefited from sunflower with the help of the agriculture department and the government’s encouragement. He always provided inspiration to the farmers to increase the production in the field and provided modern equipment to increase the agricultural production. Besides, the newly invented seeds are being brought to Raozan in the agricultural laboratory and given to the farmers. He said nowOil is being produced from sunflower seeds from mustard mill. MP Fazle Karim Chowdhury has earlier announced to give a grinder suitable for sunflower oil production to farmers.
