C T Online Desk: After visiting HSC and equivalent examination centres, Education Adviser Prof Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul (CR) Abrar said on Thursday that no dishonest group will be able to leak question papers and that action will be taken if anyone spreads rumours.
He made the statement after inspecting the exam centres at Vashantek Government College and Government Bangla College in the capital.
This year’s HSC and equivalent exams began simultaneously across the country on Thursday. The theoretical exams will end on August 10, while the practical exams will be held from August 11 to August 24.
In light of the examinations, the Education Ministry has announced that all coaching centres across the country will remain closed until August 15.
When asked whether there are concerns regarding question leaks, the education adviser said: “This fear arises every time, and it is no different this year. Just like during the SSC exams, we are fully alert this time too. I hope no dishonest groups will have a chance to leak questions. If anyone spreads rumours, we will take action.”
In response to reporters’ questions regarding the exam papers, the adviser said: “I did not have the chance to see the question papers. However, it is expected that some will say the questions were good, while others may say they were difficult. That depends on their understanding and preparation. What we can ensure is that the quality of the questions is maintained.”
He further said that the first day of exams took place in a well-organized environment across the centres. “Examinees reached their centres on time and exams began following the designated rules. Through the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, education administrators, and all concerned, a disciplined environment has been ensured.”
After visiting the centres, the adviser said: “I saw that all examinees were wearing masks and seated while maintaining safe distances. We had taken up cleaning activities in advance to tackle the dengue threat. Altogether, we are well-prepared to face both dengue and Covid-19. So, there is nothing to fear or worry about.”
According to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, over 1.25 million students are taking part in this year’s exams under 11 education boards, including nine general education boards. The exams are being held at 2,797 centres across the country.
On the first day, the Bangla first paper exam is being held.
