C T Online Desk: A two-day ‘Annual Training Course on Tea Plantation-2022’ has started at BTRI Fatikchhari sub-center under Bangladesh Tea Board to provide hands-on training on tea cultivation in a scientific manner to the manpower involved in tea garden management.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the training course on Wednesday (March 30), Major General Md. Ashraful Islam said that tea cultivation and processing is a scientific method.
Through this training course, hands-on training has been arranged for the trainees in various aspects of tea cultivation including modern science based tea planting methods which will play an important role in creating skilled manpower in the tea gardens of Chittagong region.
In the annual course, 40 trainees from 17 tea gardens have been trained on the overall subject of tea cultivation. The training course provides hands-on training on soil management, improved variety selection techniques, modern tea cultivation methods (pruning, tipping, plucking, drainage and drought management), pest and disease management, tea processing, etc.Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) Director. Rafiqul Islam was the special guest.The Chairman of the Tea Board inaugurated a new three-phase electrical connection between the modern soil science laboratory of the sub-center, BTB sources said.
