C T Online Desk: President Mohammad Shahabuddin on Sunday swore in three new advisers for the interim government led by Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the evening at Bangabhaban, where the president administered them the oath of office.
The newly appointed advisers are Sheikh Bashir Uddin, managing director of the Akij-Bashir Group; film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki; and Mahfuj Alam, special assistant to the chief adviser.
The interim government was formed on August 8, following the fall of the Awami League government in a student-led uprising, with Dr Yunus serving as the chief adviser.
The initial government comprised 21 members, including the chief adviser.
In response to suggestions from various quarters to strengthen the government’s advisory council, the decision was made to expand the council.
With the inclusion of these three new advisers, the total number of members in the advisory council now stands at 24.
