C T Online Desk: In line with a previously made announcement, students entered the Supreme Court premises on Wednesday, demanding the resignation of what they termed pro-Awami League “fascist judges.”
The protest began after 11am, with students gathering and chanting slogans. Simultaneously, BNP-affiliated lawyers stood separately, voicing the same demand.
Earlier, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement announced a program to surround the High Court, calling for the resignation of judges appointed during the Awami League government’s tenure.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the movement’s coordinators, made the announcement on Facebook on Tuesday evening.
In his post, Hasnat wrote: “A protest will be held on Wednesday at 11am to surround the High Court, demanding the resignation of Awami League’s fascist judges.”
This is not the first protest of its kind. On August 10, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized a similar demonstration, going to the High Court and demanding the resignation of then-chief justice Obaidul Hassan and other Appellate Division judges.
On that same day, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan resigned following pressure from the students.
