C T Online Desk: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday paid tributes to the founding president of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of his 102nd birth anniversary and the National Children’s Day-2022.
She paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at historic Dhanmondi-32 in Dhaka in the morning.
After laying the wreath, Sheikh Hasina stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the, the architect of independent Bangladesh.
A smartly turned out contingent of the armed forces gave a guard of honour on the occasion.
A special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Sheikh Mujib and his family members.
The nation is celebrating the 103rd birthday of Sheikh Mujib in a befitting manner. The day, which is a public holiday, is also being observed as the National Children’s Day.
Marking the day, the prime minister will also lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Sheikh Mujib at Tungipara in Gopalganj at 11:00am.
Hasina, also the eldest daughter of Sheikh Mujib, will join a programme titled Tungipara: Hridoye Pitribhumi there at 2:30pm on the occasion of his birth anniversary and the National Children’s Day.
The PM will leave Tungipara for Dhaka by a helicopter on Thursday afternoon.
