C T Online Desk: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal this morning directed field level administration officials and law enforcers not to let politics get in the way of performing their duties.
They should to stay above politics and remain neutral, the CEC said.
Habibul said this while inaugurating a training session for the officials.
The Election Commission this morning started phase wise training of divisional commissioner, deputy commissioner, deputy inspector general, superintendent of police, regional election officers ahead of the national polls likely to be held in early January next year.
Usually, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners act as returning officers during the polls while DIGs and SPs maintain law and order.
Speaking at the event, EC Ahsan Habib Khan said he doesn’t like to dwell in the past. “But let’s learn from it, let us all work together to create an example of free and fair election,” he said.
EC Anisur Rahman said they want free, fair, and participatory election as people from around the world are monitoring the election situation.
