2,000 patients happy to get cost-free treatment arranged by Bashundhara

C T Online Desk:Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) with supports of other organisations have provided free treatments to 2,000 patients at Barura in Cumilla on Friday.

BEHRI, an ophthalmic venture of the Bashundhara Group, in collaboration with Vision Care Foundation and AKM Abu Taher Foundation arranged the treatment through an eye camp held at Jhapua Ashrafia Islamia Dakhil Madrasa at Galimpur Union in Barura upazila of the district.

Apart from treatment, the patients were given medicines and glasses for free. Of them, 380 critical patients have been selected for operations.

Ten-member team of BEHRI led by Dr Majumder Golam Rabbi provided the service in the eye camp. BEHRI Director Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed supervised the treatment.

Zakaria Taher Sumon, chief sponsor of Abu Taher Foundation, was present at the camp to ensure smooth management of everything.

About eye camp, Dr Majumder Golam Rabbi said “I could not imagine such a huge turnout of the patients. The treatment was supposed to continue till 4pm but it was extended by an hour due to large number of patients.”
