Flourishing children’s talent urgent to advance future generation: Hasan

C T Online Desk: Sept 7, 2023- Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said flourishing of children’s latent talent is very important to advance future generations.

“We want to build such a Bangladesh where our children can go ahead keeping pace with the fourth industrial revolution. Flourishing of children’s latent talent is very important to do that. And the children’s film festival is playing an outstanding role in this regard,” he said.

The minister was addressing the 16th International Children Films Festival organised by Children’s Film Society at Shilpakala Academy here this evening.

Earlier, Dr Hasan inaugurated the festival by hoisting the national flag. Founder of the society Morshedul Islam and President Professor Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal were present.

Hasan said the children of the country are very much talented. They could play a pivotal role in building a developed state and society and humanitarian nation as well.

Praising the initiative of organizing the global festival by children, the information minister said that the festival will be remembered as the breeding ground for new and talented filmmakers of the future.

He said most people of all ages are now using smart phones and it has many good impacts and many bad signs as well. Addiction in anything is bad and the children should be taken out of that addiction, he continued.’

A total of 101 films from 39 countries are being screened at Chitrashala Auditorium of the Shilpakala Academy and Alliance Francaise Gallery for three days.

After the inaugural function, Dr Hasan replied to queries of journalists.

He said the law and the court of the country are independent. For this, cases were lodged against many lawmakers of the government party and they served in jail.

“With due respect to Dr Yunus, I would like to say that none is above the law whether he or she is a Nobel laureate or not. Cases were filed against many Nobel laureates across the globe and they also served in jail,” he added.

He said the law will run at its own pace. The government has no plans to send anyone to jail. The government only follows what the law and courts decide, Dr Hasan added.
