C T Online Desk: BANDARBAN, July 29, 2023- Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing today said that the water shortage problem in Bandarban Sadar and Lama Municipal areas will be solved soon.
“Projects worth Taka 300.5 crore for Bandarban municipality and Taka 200 crore for Lama Municipality were approved in the meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for expansion of water lines,” he said.
The minister said these while addressing as the chief guest at the inauguration of the UP Office road development work — from Ruma BC to Maofa Para Vaya Taracha in Bandarban implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), an official release said.
Bir Bahadur said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the projects in a very short time aiming to alleviate the sufferings of the hill dwellers.
Once the project work starts, there will be no more water scarcity in the municipal areas, he added.
Lauding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her government’s development works across the country, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is making roads, bridges and culverts so that the communication of the CHT people becomes smooth.
She (the premier) always thinks about the sufferings of the people living in the remote hills, he added.
