C T Online Desk: Roktim Shil, a victim of the tragic road accident in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar which left his five brothers dead, succumbed to injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) this morning.
Roktim was declared dead at 11:00 am today, said CMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Ahsan.
Roktim was shifted to ICU at CMCH from Chattogram General Hospital (CGH) for better treatment on February 12.
Roktim was admitted to CMCH in an unconscious state and did not regain conscious till death, said Prof Dr Noman Khaled Chowdhury, head of Neurosurgery at CMCH.
“He had brain haemorrhage and multiple fractures in his body,” said Dr Chowdhury.
Roktim has a four-year-old son, family sources said, adding, he ran a shop in Cox’s Bazar.
A pick-up van hit seven brothers when they were walking back home after taking part in post funeral rituals for their father on February 8.
Five died on the spot while Roktim and another brother Plabon were admitted to hospitals in critical condition.
Plabon recovered and was released from CMCH on February 12.
Terming the incident pre-planned, the family members demanded proper investigation.
Plabon filed a case with Chakaria Police Station in this regard.
