C T Online Desk: Mahmudul Alam Babu, the prime suspect in the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim in Jamalpur, has been detained.
Babu, chairman of Sadhurpara Union Parishad and general secretary of Bakshiganj upazila Awami League, was detained from Panchagarh by Rab around 9:00am today.
Harun-or-Rashid, chairman of Panchagarh’s Chilahati-1 Union Parishad, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.
Earlier, Babu was suspended from Awami League for violating party discipline, according to party sources.
Babu went into hiding after the murder of Nadim.
Nadim died on Thursday, a day after he was attacked and injured allegedly by some supporters of Babu in Bakshiganj.
Nadim, 42, was the Jamalpur district correspondent of Banglanews24.com and Bakshiganj upazila correspondent of Ekattor TV.
