C T Online Desk: Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury MP has described lawyers to be social engineers who contribute to the social changes.
She was addressing as the chief guest at inaugural of the 6th Bangladesh Qualifying Round of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.The programme was hosted by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka on Thursday.
“Lawyers are social engineers to bring about positive changes in the world. To make a difference in the lives of the people and to serve humanity, lawyers must prepare themselves with adequate knowledge and understanding of international law,” she said.
Chairing the event, IUB Vice-Chancellor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, said “In the wake of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we need global citizens who would be sensitive to the rights of others and who would strive to resolve any dispute or difference through resolution mechanisms.”
