15 injured in Gazipur factory explosion

C T Online Desk: At least 15 people, including a pedestrian, were injured in a gas line burst at a garment factory in Kashimpur South Zarun area of Gazipur.

The incident took place at Mandal Group’s BD Garment Factory at 9am on Monday.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Konabari Zone Assistant Commissioner Didarul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Abdullah-Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said that the explosion occurred after a fire broke out from the gas line leakage in a room of the factory.

Eight have been taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, and seven were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Among the injured Fazlur, Sabur, 35, Sahabul Islam, 44, Chan Mia, 45, Aslam Ali, 27, Md Sohel, 50, Soher Rana, 24, Alamgir are being treated at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

And Tousif, 32, Arif, 22, Abul Hossain, 35, Rakib, 40, Rashed 30, Rafiqul, 32, Babul, 35, are being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Doctor Ayub Hossain of the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital said that a total of seven people were brought to the hospital. However, five of them were admitted while the other two were released after primary treatment.
