17 journalists awarded NHF NCD Media Fellowship award

C T Online Desk: Some 17 journalists of different media outlets of the country have received National Heart Foundation (NHF) NCD Media Fellowship award 2022.

The journalists received the award at a function at the auditorium of National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute in Mirupur of the capital on Thursday.

Editor of Bengali daily Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta, also general secretary of the Jatiya Press Club was present at the function as chief guest and awarded the journalists with a crests and certificates.

Speaking at the function, he said the existing tobacco control law must be amended to strengthen it to attain the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by the due time.

He also emphasized on mass media role in drawing attention of the government to this end.

Brig Gen (Retd) Prof Md Younusur Rahman, Director of the National Heart Foundation Hospital, Professor Dr. Fazila-Tun-Nesa Malik, Professor of Cardiology & Chief Consultant Cardiologist at the hospital, Rashed Rabbi, President of the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum and Ataur Rahman Masud,  manager (advocacy) CTFK were also present at the function.

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh Secretary General Prof. Khondker Abdul Awal (Rizvi) presided over the meeting and And Dr. Sohel Reza Choudhury, head dept. of Epidemiology and Research at National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute, welcomed the attendees.

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh awarded 17 journalists who work for various national media outlets with the NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) Media Fellowship Award 2022.

Prior to the award giving ceremony, a workshop titled titled `Tobacco Control Law ‘Amendment to Protect Public Health: Role of Media personnel’ was also held at the auditorium.

Dr. Sheikh Md. Mahbubus Sobhan, Registrar (Clinical Research), National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute presented the keynote in the meeting.
