C T Online Desk: Bangladesh set to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Friday in a befitting manner.
Gopalganj’s Tungipara, the birthplace of the father of nation, has worn a festive look with colourful decoration.
Decorations have been done everywhere. A festive mood prevails everywhere in the district among the people.
On this occasion, all preparations have been completed for cleaning, beautification at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum complex in Tungipara.
Besides, a children’s rally and a three-day book fair will be organized to mark Bangabandhu’s birthday.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Tungipara on Friday to participate in various programs of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Strict security measures have been taken to ensure security to the president and pm.
To welcome the President and the Prime Minister, various roads have been decorated with hundreds of pylons, digital posters and banners with Bangabandhu.
Friday programs
Kazi Mahbubul Alam, deputy commissioner of Gopalganj said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will first arrive on Friday morning and later President Abdul Hamid will arrive at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum complex on Friday morning.
The president and the prime minister will separately place wreaths there. They will participate in the Fateha reading and special prayer
A guard of honor will be provided by the three forces at this time.
After paying homage, the president will return.
After bidding farewell to the president, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in various programs including the Bangabandhu Anniversary and National Children’s Day programs.
At 10:30am, the prime minister will attend the National Children Day Rally of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and the anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
At 11:00am, the premier will award literary and cultural competitions, distribute financial grants among underprivileged meritorious children.
After that, Sheikh Hasina will address the National Children’s Day Rally as the chief guest.
After that she will attend the cultural program of child artists.
At 12:05pm, the prime minister will take part in a photo session with child artists and at 12:10pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the book fair and visit the stalls organized at the Father of the Nation’s Tomb.
After the state program, the prime minister will leave for Dhaka from Tungipara.
The deputy commissioner said that all the preparations have been taken to make the visit of the president and pm a success.
Besides, monitoring of overall preparation including security and law, order situations, is underway with the coordination of all departments.
“We hope that we will be able to complete the program successfully.”
Sheikh Saiful Islam, president of Tungipara municipal Awami League said that all the roads of the district have been decorated with banners and festoons to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Abdul Hamid on behalf of all walks of people of Tungipara.
Besides, Overall coordination is being made with the administration to make the prime minister’s visit a success, he said.
GM Sahab Uddin Azam, general secretary of Gopalganj District Awami League said: “The president and prime minister will come to Tungipara of Gopalganj on March 17. The day marks the birth anniversary of our father of the nation. It is a happy day for us. Around this day, a festive atmosphere has been created among the leaders and activists of all levels of Gopalganj district. The entire Gopalganj-Tungipara has worn a colourful look.”
“Not only our leaders and activists, people from all walks of life in Gopalganj are eagerly waiting to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a festive atmosphere,” he said.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the vivacious leader of the Bangalee nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
