C T Online Desk: A traffic sergeant of Chattogram Metropolitan Police was killed after a private car hit his motorbike from behind at the port city’s Outer Ring Road last night.
The deceased was identified as Md Muzahid Chowdhury, 32, sergeant of CMP Port Traffic Division, reports our local correspondent quoting Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, deputy police commissioner (Traffic-Port) of CMP.
“The incident took place in front of Y Junction area of Outer Ring Road at around 11:00pm,” said the DC.
“Finishing his duty at Patenga area, Muzahid and two of his colleagues were heading toward Foujdarhat via Ring Road on their respective motorbikes. A speeding car hit Muzahid’s motorcycle when he was crossing Y Junction point of the road leaving him dead on the spot,” added the DC.
He was rushed to Chattogrom Medical College Hospital but doctors declared him dead, he added.
Halishahar police seized the private car and detained the driver, said the DC, adding that the body has been kept at CMCH morgue.
