City Mayor seeks Japanese help to build  modern  Ctg

C T Online Desk: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has sought Japan’s cooperation in the development of water supply, sewage, waste management and infrastructure sectors.

The Mayor asked for this cooperation during a courtesy meeting with Japanese Ambassador  Mr. Iwama Kiminri at the CCC office on Thursday.

At that time, the city mayor said, in view of the changing climate, I am giving priority to the four sectors of drainage, sewage, waste management and infrastructure. Japan can stand by Bangladesh by investing in the development of four sectors. I want to build an aesthetic Chittagong by utilizing Japan’s economic support as well as technical knowledge and experience.

Japanese ambassador Iwama Kiminri assured the mayor of cooperation. He said, by investing in the private-public partnership model along with JICA, Japanese commercial companies can improve drainage, waste management, infrastructure and sewage system in Chittagong. For this, I will inform the higher authorities to ensure the maximum cooperation of the Japanese government.

Japan’s ambassador commented that Japan has always been cooperating to accelerate the development of Bangladesh by exploiting the immense potential of the port city of Chittagong.

Japanese Embassy First Secretary Azumaya Kenji, Kawai Hiroshi, Japan Foreign Trade Organization JETRO Country Representative Yoji Ando Anand, CCC Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Mayor’s Private Secretary and Chief Cleaning Officer Muhammad Abul Hashem and Public Relations and Protocol Officer Aziz Ahmed were present.
