C T Online Desk: President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association and Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed presented a cheque of Tk 11 lakh to gold medal winner athlete Imranur Rahman as an honour award on behalf of the Bangladesh Army.
Imranur Rahman, who recently became the first Bangladeshi to win a gold medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship, is a regular contract player in the Bangladesh Army.
For the past more than a year, under the patronage of the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Athletics Federation, Imranur Rahman is brightening the country’s image by achieving unprecedented success in the national and international arena.
He won the honour of being the fastest man in the 16th National Summer Athletics Competition-2022 held on 23 August 2022. He also participated for the Bangladesh Army athletics team in the 46th National Athletics Competition-2022 held on 23 December 2022 and won gold medals in 100 and 200 meters sprint.
Such an award by the Army Chief is expected to encourage the accomplished athletes of the country and inspire promising athletes.
