Six ARSA members arrested in Ukhia

C T Online Desk: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Armed Police Battalion (APBN) in a joint operation arrested six members of Myanmar’s rebel armed organization Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) from Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar.

They were arrested from Rohingya camp number 18 on Thursday (Feb 23) night.

The arrestees are – Mohammad Arab, 24, Mohammad Nuru, 31, Mohammad Yunus, 30, Haroon, 28, Hafizul Amin, 25, Md. Mir Kashim and Mir Hossain, 22.

Cox’s Bazar RAB-15 Senior Assistant Director (Law and Media) Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Salam Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

He said tipped off, members of ARSA were stationed with weapons near M-18 Sub Block of Camp-18’s Main Block-E of Maynarghona of Palangkhali Union of Ukhiya. After that, a joint operation was conducted and they were arrested.

Locally made one-shooter gun, one round of ammunition was recovered during the operation, he said.

A case has been lodged at Ukhia police station in this regard, the official added.
