Lowest temp 6.9C recorded at Tetulia

C T Online Desk: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday recorded the season’s lowest temperature at Tetulia in Panchagarh district and forecasted a fall in night and day temperatures by one to two degrees Celsius over the country in the 24 hours from 6:00pm on Tuesday.

The department also forecasted, for five days from Tuesday evening, that there would be light rain or drizzle and a fall in temperature over the country.

 

According to the BMD, the lowest temperature that was recorded at Tetulia was 6.9C while the highest 30.3C was recorded in Feni.

Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir told New Age that as the difference between the lowest and the highest temperatures would be wide over the period people would not feel much cool.

‘When the difference is small, it feels colder,’ he added.

According to a Met Office release on Tuesday, a moderate to thick fog may occur along the river basins and adjoining areas and a light to moderate fog elsewhere over the country between Tuesday midnight and Wednesday morning.

A mild cold wave has, meanwhile, been sweeping over Rangpur division and the districts of Pabna, Naogaon and Chuadanga and it may continue, said the release.

The Directorate General of Health Services on the day reported that total 3,257 patients with cold-related diseases were admitted to hospitals across the country while two others died in the 24-hour period till Tuesday morning.

With the latest casualties, a total of 78 people died due to cold conditions while 3,79,274 were admitted to hospitals across the country this winter.
