C T Online Desk: One of the major sources of revenue for the railways is the transportation of goods and fuel oil from Chittagong Goods Port Yard (CGPY). Railways are earning huge revenue by transporting goods and BPC’s fuel oil through freight trains and tanker wagons across the country through Chittagong port.
But due to the mileage complication caused by the railways, the transport of goods and fuel oil from CGPY has been suspended for two days on Friday and Saturday due to train drivers and guards not running the train for more than six hours. Four freight trains from CGPY to Kamalapur ICD (Inland Container Depot) in Dhaka have been canceled.
Train driver-guards are not on duty for more than 6 hours due to movement of railway running staff (locomasters, guards and TTEs) on mileage complexity. Due to this, the train schedule is disrupted due to driver and guard crisis, Railway sources said.
