Two of the biggest associations of the entertainment industry were eager for their elections, which began today.
Voting for the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association is going on at the BFDC, and for Actors’ Equity elections, votes are being collected at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Voting began at 9 am which will run until 5pm, at the respective venues.
Ilias Kanchan and Nipun’s panel is contesting against Misha Sawdagor and Zayed Khan’s panel in the Film Artistes’ Association elections. Artistes have been visiting the BFDC since morning to vote.
Actress Nipun, a candidate for General Secretary, informed The Daily Star that so far, the election is going well. Artistes are voting in a festive environment.
The Film Artistes’ Association has 428 voters. Pirzada Shahidul Harun is their chief election commissioner.
Zahid Hossain and B H Nishan are the co-election commissioners, while director Sohanur Rahman Sohan is the chairman for their appeal board.
On the other hand, the biggest association for television artistes, Actors’ Equity, is hosting their election in a grand manner.
Ahsan Habib Nasim, who is contesting for the post of President and Rawnak Hasan, who is contesting for the post of General Secretary, along with many others, have voted already.
The Actors’ Equity have 48 candidates, with 748 voters. The candidates are contesting for 21 positions.
Noted actor Khairul Alam Sabuj is their chief election commissioner.
Thespian Mamunur Rashid is performing duties in their appeal board.
