C T Online Desk: Chittagong recorded 1,167 new Covid-19 cases with an infection rate of 31.97% in the 24 hours to Friday morning.
The district also reported four deaths from the infectious disease during the same period, said Chittagong District Civil Surgeon Dr Md Elias Chowdhury.
Altogether 117,200 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Chittagong since the start of the pandemic.
In December 2021, an average of 10 new infections were reported each day in Chittagong.
However, the number of Covid-19 cases has been increasing at a rapid rate since the emergence of the Omicron coronavirus variant in the country at the turn of the year, said Dr Chowdhury.
