C T Online Desk: Taking evidence of a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former Cox’s Bazar Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karan for allegedly acquiring illegal assets has been postponed.
Judge Munshi Abdul Majid of the Chittagong Divisional Special Judge’s Court was scheduled to testify in the case on Monday (January 17).
ACC lawyer Mahmudul Haque said the trial of the case started on December 15 last year with the formation of charges against Pradeep and his wife. The accused appealed to the high court against the formation of charges. He wants an exemption from the lawsuit.The plaintiff in the case ACC official Riaz Uddin was supposed to testify. But the defendants appealed to the High Court for time as they applied for exemption from the case on Monday. After the hearing, the court granted time and fixed February 17 as the next day for taking evidence.
