C T Online Desk: Chittagong Wasa managing director along with 7 officials are traveling abroad for training in two rounds. Questions have been raised about the visits of these government officials to the US and Singapore.
On Sunday (July 17), Assistant Engineer of Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority went to Singapore for 21 days. The engineers are Shahab Uddin, Bikash Chandra Das, Yusuf Tafadar and Mohammad Tauseef. They will undergo training on ‘Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition’ conducted under Karnaphuli Water Supply Project (Phase-II).
On the other hand, on Thursday (July 14) night, Chittagong WASA Managing Director AKM Fazlullah, Deputy Managing Director (Finance) Samsul Alam went to the United States for 9 days. Chief Engineer Maqsood Alam and Superintending Engineer Mohammad Mahabubul Alam, Director of Vandaljuri Water Supply Project Khairul Islam.. They are said to have gone to the United States to see the equipment being procured to disinfect the water of the Vandaljuri water supply project. The project is expected to be completed in September this year.To reduce the pressure on foreign exchange reserves, the Ministry of Finance had issued a circular on May 12 to stop government officials from traveling abroad except for special needs.Project Director Mohammad Mahabubul Alam said that before buying the equipment, visit the US to visit the factory. There will be training on water disinfection. The Ministry of Local Government has approved for this visit. The cost of the trip will be borne by the contractor company “Taeyong E&C” of South Korea.
