C T Online Desk: Singapore flag -container vessel MV Quota Ranchk has filed a complaint on June 28 before the Malaysia -based International Maritime Bureau regarding a piracy that occured in the ship. MV Quota Ranchk’s master or any sailor has not informed the port control or Coast Guard of Chittagong port about it. .
After receiving the e-mail sent from the IMBA to the Coast Guard, a team of Coast Guard East Zone conducted the investigation into the ship’s alleged piracy at the request of the chairman of the Chittagong port.
The search revealed that some ropes and oils were sold from the ship near the local vendor in connection with the ship’s sailors. The Coast Guard conducts the combing operation and interrogates the sailors and vendors of the ship. During interrogation, the ship’s sailor and purchaser Vendor admitted that the products were dropped from the MV Quota Ranch ship in exchange for the dollar. The Coast Guard report has come up that a piracy report has been filed to hide the crime with the help of the sailors mentioned during the outskirts of Chittagong port.
According to Article 1 of the International Ship and Port Security Code (ISPS), a team comprising of Bangladesh Coast Guard, Chittagong Port Authority and Mercantile Marine Department sailed to MV Quota Ranch to investigate the matter. The allegations submitted to the Master IMBA of the ship in this regard were wrong and said that no piracy or any other incident took place on the ship on June 25. He also withdrew the report sent by the IMBA.
Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Md. Omar Farooq said Bangladesh was saved from the piracy slander in the bold role of the port chairman.
There were no robbery, pirates in the Chittagong port till 2019-21. Chittagong port’s outdoor and coastal region are well -known as a safe area. A vicious cycle is trying to undermine the image of Chittagong port by submitting such fake piracy reports. In search of another Singapore -based World Naval Security Observatory, Ricap, in 2012, five fake piracy reports have been filed in the search. From July 25, 2004 the security system of Chittagong port has improved gradually since the implementation of ISPS code. . Chittagong Port Authority played a commendable role in uncovering the fake report submitted from the ship.
Recently, the Chittagong Port Authority updated the port security plan and introduced the free security system of the port according to the international port and ship security code. The steps taken to modernize the port security system have been praised from various international palaces such as US Coast Guard, Ricap, etc.
