CCC to burn 5 tons of medical waste per day

C T Online Desk: Mentioning that new horizons have been opened in the waste management of CCC by setting up incinerator plant, Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that incinerator plant has been set up with emphasis on disposal of infectious medical waste. Through this 5 tons of medical waste can be destroyed daily.It is an eco-friendly sophisticated system.There is no need for new research in this type of waste management. Modern waste management can be developed only by following the developed cities.He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the JICA-funded incinerator plant at Anandabazar  on Tuesday (January 11).

He urged the government and private medical and diagnostic centers to dispose of their medical waste through autoclave machines and dispose of it in bioseptical bags, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.The function was presided over by CCC CEO Mohammad Shahidul Alam and conducted by Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik. Malay Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Sabur Hossain, JICA Chief Representative Hayakawa Yoho, Senior Representative Psyche Takashi, Panel Mayor Md. Gias Uddin, Afroza Kalam, Councilor. Abdul Mannan, Professor. Ismail, Md. Elias, Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Mayor’s Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem and others were present on the occasion.
