29 bodies out of 49 victims  handed over, says DC

C T Online Desk: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said 49 people had died in a tragic fire at the BM container depot in Sitakunda. We have handed over the bodies of 29 of them to their relatives. And we have saved the bodies of 20 people for DNA testing.

DNA test results will be available in the next three weeks. It will then be handed over to relatives. He made the remarks while providing compensation to the families of those killed and injured in a fire accident on Monday night (June 13). The families of the deceased were given a checque  of Tk 200,000 and the injured 18 were given a cheque  of Tk 50,000.each.

He said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is personally investigating the incident. Instructed to ensure maximum treatment for the treatment of the injured. A support cell has been formed on the initiative of the deputy commissioner immediately after the accident. All kinds of medical aid is being provided from here. ‘

He said the deputy commissioner had provided cash assistance of Tk 50,000 to the families of the victims and Tk 25,000 to the injured. The Ministry of Labor has also distributed checks of Tk 200,000 to the families of the slain workers and Tk 50,000 to 120 injured people. Today  (Tuesday) cash assistance will be distributed to the families of 12 more people killed at the initiative of the Ministry of Labor.
